clear clip board memory

Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
  • Then click on Run Icon, which will open up the Run Menu for you.
  • Locate the white area of the screen next to the word Open: in the Run Menu.
  • Now type in the abbreviated word Clipbrd and click on the OK button to launch the Program.
  • Notice how the Clipboard contains a record of your recent copy and paste inputs.
  • To empty your Clipboard, click on the word Edit located within your top tool bar area.
  • Then click on the word Delete from the pull down menu that appears.
  • Windows will ask you if you want to Clear the contents of the Clipboard.
  • Click on the Yes button this will allow Windows to clear the Clipboard.
  • Notice how your former imputed information is now cleared from the Clipboard.
  • Then close the Clipbook Viewer Window to return to your Windows session.

Problems with the master boot record (MBR)

Problems with the master boot record (MBR) of a system may prevent the system from booting.

The MBR may be affected by malicious code, become corrupted by disk errors, or be overwritten by other boot loaders when experimenting with multiple operating systems on a host. This tool describes one method of repairing the MBR for an XP host using the recovery console.


Boot with the XP installation CD.

When prompted, press R to repair a Windows XP installation.

If repairing a host with multiple operating systems, select the appropriate one (XP) from the menu. If you have only one operating system, enter 1 to select it. Enter the administrator password if prompted. To fix the MBR, use the following command:
fixmbr


This assumes that your installation is on the C:\ drive. . Type y and ENTER to fix the MBR. Type exit to leave the recovery console and reboot.

Outlook pst corrupt ?

If your Personal Folders data file (.pst) becomes corrupted, you can often repair it by using the Inbox Repair Tool.

1. Close Outlook
2. Select Start - Run and enter the following into the Run dialog box (including quotation marks): "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\SCANPST.exe"

3. Enter the path and name of your Personal Folders data file.
The default location is: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst 4. Click Start to begin the repair.

turn off boot logo

Many people do not like the boot logo covering up what's happening during the XP boot process. This technique shows you how to turn off the boot logo during start up.

Disable XP Boot Logo You can disable the XP splash screen; which will speed up the overall boot process.
1. Click Start and then click Run; type in: msconfig
2. Click BOOT.INI from the top tabs.
3. Go down to Boot Options, and tick: /NOGUIBOOT
4. Click Apply then Ok to close msconfig.
5. You will need to restart your computer for it to take effect. The splash screen will be gone. It can be re-enabled by unticking /NOGUIBOOT back in the msconfig.
